We evaluated LEGO's ESG performance by referring to our ESG framework, which covers 18 initiatives of ESG reporting. Overall, we found LEGO takes the lead in ESG reporting. In particular, LEGO has voluntarily published its sustainability since 2007 and started following GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), and assured its reports by a third party since 2009. We also found LEGO has an ambitious goal of reducing GHG emissions and controlling landfills. However, we do find that its disclosure on pollutants and risk management is missing, and overall disclosures on corporate governance are weaker than other sections. On balance, we think LEGO's ESG performance has the room of improvement in three areas: Consistency and comparability of disclosures, Comprehensiveness of disclosures, and Balancing attention.Fri, 14 Oct 2022 03:03:00 +0000https://www.eco-business.com/research/lego-and-the-toy-makers-how-sustainability-comes-to-play-land/On greener pastures: Global Sustainability Funds Development 2021-2022https://www.eco-business.com/research/on-greener-pastures-global-sustainability-funds-development-2021-2022/Global sustainability assets saw a bumper year in 2021, up US$1 trillion to reach a total of US$2.74 trillion. We combine this with the knowledge we have gained in our projects, research and development. We find that hydrogen is essential to a clean energy future, but many questions remain around hydrogen's large-scale use as an energy carrier. Forecast When, where and by how much will hydrogen scale? In which sectors will hydrogen and derivatives be used? And where will they not be used? How will hydrogen be transported and traded? What will be spent on hydrogen through to 2050?Insights Which policies and strategies can best accelerate the scaling of hydrogen? What can be done to reduce risk and increase the attractiveness of hydrogen investments? How can hydrogen safety and perception challenges be overcome?Which hydrogen value chains will be successful, which won't? Even though these emissions come from outside of your business's own operations, your business can still play a big role in reducing supplier emissions. This five-step checklist from our guide to enterprise value chain engagement will help you pick the right approach to engaging your suppliers. 1. Focus Identify which suppliers to focus on, using criteria such as supplier GHG emissions, GHG emission reduction potential, the readiness of suppliers to engage, and strength of relationship with suppliers. Measuring your scope 3 emissions will give you crucial insights.Fri, 14 Oct 2022 02:55:02 +0000https://www.eco-business.com/research/how-to-reduce-supplier-carbon-emissions/A-share companies’ sustainability disclosures 2021 reviewhttps://www.eco-business.com/research/a-share-companies-sustainability-disclosures-2021-review/In this report, we reviewed the sustainability disclosures of A-share companies in 2021. Some of our key findings include: We found that 1412 A-share companies disclosed sustainability-related information in 2021, achieving a reporting rate of 30%. We also found that for CSI 300 companies, the disclosure rate reached 90% in 2021, compared with 82% in the previous year. In addition, we found a positive association between companies' market capitalization and sustainability disclosure quality: larger companies tend to have better disclosure quality. Finally, there are a lot of variations in sustainability disclosure among sectors. Three sectors, chemicals, renewable electricity, and building materials saw a reporting rate below the A-share average, with chemicals' reporting rate the lowest at 19%, suggesting catch-up in the future.Fri, 14 Oct 2022 02:52:15 +0000https://www.eco-business.com/research/a-share-companies-sustainability-disclosures-2021-review/Energy Transition Outlook 2022https://www.eco-business.com/research/energy-transition-outlook-2022/This 6th edition of Energy Transition Outlook combines our "best estimate" forecast for the energy transition with our "Pathway to Net Zero Emissions". The foundation supports a multimillion-dollar asset, without which revenue would be impossible, yet this asset is mainly invisible and its operational health unknown. Wind farm owners and operators are in a challenging position without information on the health of their WTG foundations. This whitepaper gives a better insight into the health of WTG foundations. It supports owners and operators in making informed decisions for the ongoing operation and maintenance, refinancing, long-term operation, life extension or sale of their wind farm asset.Fri, 17 Jun 2022 04:12:53 +0000https://www.eco-business.com/research/wind-turbine-generator-foundations/Green Development 2030https://www.eco-business.com/research/green-development-2030/A combination of digitalization and decarbonization will drive a new era of green development. Asia's banks have a choice. They can set strategies that anticipate regulatory or market developments and position themselves to mitigate risks to capital and capitalise on multi-trillion-dollar opportunities. Alternatively, they can take a reactive approach only shifting practices and relationships as clients face tighter carbon regulation; disruption from cleaner technologies; and the impacts of the changing climate. We assess 32 leading banks listed in nine major Asian markets. Our research shows that to date the region's banks have not kept pace with changing expectations. Asia's banks are mispricing exposure to carbon-intensive assets that are increasingly difficult to re-finance or transfer. Without urgent course correction, widespread misallocation of capital will continue, leaving the region vulnerable to correction. This report reviews bank approaches to climate risk management and sets out investor expectations. There are examples of good practices in the region and globally that indicate practical steps banks can take to position themselves for climate leadership within a year.Tue, 05 Apr 2022 10:16:00 +0000https://www.eco-business.com/research/banking-asias-future-how-to-align-with-national-climate-plans/Floating offshore wind: the next five yearshttps://www.eco-business.com/research/floating-offshore-wind-the-next-five-years/By 2050, we predict that floating offshore wind will generate 264 GW or 15% of all offshore wind energy. To put this into context this is the equivalent to a development of more than 3,000 times the size of Hywind Tampen, the world's largest floating offshore wind farm, currently under construction in Norway, or 15,000 individual turbines. But while a long-term view is necessary and plays an important role in helping to make sense of complex changes, it can be hard to understand how any changes might impact your businesses strategy in the near-term future. Our new report aims to make sense of the growing market for floating offshore wind by bringing together the most relevant findings from DNV's forecasts and exploring the technology innovation, cost challenges and investment and policy decisions that are needed in the next five years to make commercialized floating offshore wind a reality.Thu, 24 Mar 2022 04:25:00 +0000https://www.eco-business.com/research/floating-offshore-wind-the-next-five-years/
